These are vascular stents that match the flexibility of blood vessels. They may be applied to existing bare-metal stents to improve their properties or may be used to obtain incremental improvements to a drug-eluting stent. The Compliance Matching Stents (CMS) are unlike traditional rigid stents that can cause an extreme amount of sheer stress at the transition between the stented and unstented region. Patent assigned to Wake Forest University. FIU and Wake Forest have royalty sharing agreement.
